Thank you for reaching out to Recalibrate Therapeutic Services (RTS) and being vulnerable enough to share your challenge with us. We take a lot of pride in providing our clients with a high level of service, and for this to occur we believe that it is important for you as the client to know what to expect.

Our Values:
What this means is that we offer your discovery session free of charge. We hold the belief that all clients deserve a therapist who fits their needs, so this first session is an opportunity for both you as the client and us as the therapist to see if we would be a good match. We believe providing this session free of charge provides our clients with respect while removing pressure in the search to find the right mental health support team.

  • Your first session with RTS is offered as a “Complimentary Discovery Session”.
  • A Discovery Session gives you the chance as a client, and us the chance as the therapist to see if we will be a good fit.
  • We believe providing our discovery session free of charge provides our clients with respect, while removing pressure in the search to find the right mental health support team.

What to Prepare For:
Now you may be anxious about your first session and what to say. Don’t worry, this is normal, and hopefully we can provide some guidance. During your first session the therapist will ask you a lot of “information gathering questions” (ex. Age, gender, occupation, family, community connections). In the moment these may seem redundant, however this is part of our process in developing a well-rounded understanding of who you are as a client, and what we as therapists can provide you. We may keep conversations at a more surface level. This is so we can gather more contextual information about what is going on for you, also to help keep you, the client, safe. If you decide Recalibrate Therapeutic Services is not the right fit for you, we want to ensure that you don’t feel like you left your life story with a stranger. What this means is that all your information is stored securely as required by law. Overall, our major goal is to always ensure our clients feel safe and heard. We hope that after the discovery session, you and your therapist feel you are a good fit together, and we can begin to develop individualized goals and a plan for what us working together could look like.

Things to Consider:

  • Think about what has brought you to want to engage in therapy?
  • What is your desired outcome to engage with RTS?
  • What are you looking for in your therapist?
  • Questions regarding formal/informal/suspicions of mental health conditions are common, so please think about if you’re willing to share this information.
  • What would help you to feel comfortable with being uncomfortable?
